The big difference between organic and conventional cotton is in the production methods and in the amount of toxic chemicals used during this process.
Conventional cotton usually comes from seeds with genetically modified organisms, better known as GMO seeds. In contrast, organic cotton is grown from natural cotton seeds. Clothes made from conventional cotton carry a huge amount of toxic pesticides and chemicals used during the growing process. The soil is also burdened by these chemicals and its composition is damaged. In addition, the fabrics produced from conventional cotton go through the painstaking process of bleaching and are colored with toxic dyes during the weaving process.
In contrast to the above,
- Organic cotton is grown in soil that is not filled with chemicals.
- Is watered only with rainwater.
- No chemicals or pesticides are sprayed at any stage of the process.
- The cotton balls are handpicked and never bleached or dyed using toxic chemicals.
- If dyes are used, they are usually vegetable based, non-toxic dyes.
Why are organic cotton clothes better for our body?
That’s because the durable fibers of organic cotton have not been damaged by chemicals during the growing and weaving process. Thus, the clothes made from this kind of cotton are superior in quality. No matter how many times you wash or wear them, they will age gracefully.
They are free of toxic chemicals.
It is extremely important to wear chemical-free clothing.
Organic cotton is softer and more comfortable.
Organic cotton is very soft by nature. But when mixed with chemicals, it often loses its soft touch and becomes coarse and scratchy, causing discomfort.
When cared for properly, organic cotton can soften with every wash.
It is the best for our skin.
Organic cotton clothes are more durable!
Organic cotton is soft and kind to our skin. As the material is soft and chemical-free, there is less chance of causing skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and skin allergies.
As organic cotton always maintains its natural state, it is resistant to mold and anti-microbial as well.
On the contrary, clothes made from conventional cotton carry a huge amount of toxic pesticides and chemicals used during the growing process. The soil is also burdened by these chemicals and its composition is damaged. In addition, the fabrics produced from conventional cotton go through the painstaking process of bleaching and are colored with toxic dyes during the weaving process.
