The big difference between organic and conventional cotton is in the production methods and in the amount of toxic chemicals used during this process.
Conventional cotton usually comes from seeds with genetically modified organisms, better known as GMO seeds. In contrast, organic cotton is grown from natural cotton seeds. Clothes made from conventional cotton carry a huge amount of toxic pesticides and chemicals used during the growing process. The soil is also burdened by these chemicals and its composition is damaged. In addition, the fabrics produced from conventional cotton go through the painstaking process of bleaching and are colored with toxic dyes during the weaving process.
